O sole mio. Sicily from only 10€!

Sicily, the football kicked by Italy’s boot. It is the largest island in the Mediterranean and the most diverse. It is so rich in ancient sites and architectural treasures that it could be described as ostentatious. Only that is absolutely not the Sicilian way.

For centuries, Sicily has been at the crossroads of the Mediterranean. Inhabited by the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs and Normans, Sicily has seen many rulers, all of whom have left their mark on the culture, cuisine, architecture and landscape of this beautiful island; a veritable melting pot of cultural flavours just waiting for you to explore.

Each of the 20 regions has its own unique character and offers you a variety of experiences. From stunning beaches, bubbling volcanoes, rich cuisine, historic relics and ruins to epic landscapes of hill towns and rolling vineyards, you’ll be spoilt for choice as to where and what to visit, and sure to want to return again and again, year after year.

Mount Etna is probably the most popular day trip from Catania! It is only an hour’s drive away and one of the most active volcanoes in the world.

There are several ways to visit the volcano, but most visitors opt for the easy and free option: drive to the Rifugio Sapienza and hike around the two large craters, the Silvestri Crateri.

The small inland town of Enna is a wonderful town to stroll around, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the stunning views. Definitely, Enna is a great day trip from Catania. Especially for those who want to escape mass tourism and find a typical Sicilian town untouched by time.

And there is so incredibly much more to discover!

Parktiger wishes you an unforgettable holiday.
